Captain Jon Manter grew up fishing and boating around the Boothbay region of Maine. As a small child he developed a love for fishing, catching striped bass, blue fish, mackerel, cod and anything else that would bite a hook.

In 2002, Captain Jon Manter built a custom fishing boat, the Manta Ray. Since then, he has been commercially fishing for Giant Bluefin tuna and charter fishing in Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina.

The F/V Manta Ray is a 36' Northern Bay that is specifically designed for sport fishing with an emphasis on Giant Bluefin tuna. From the Gulf of Maine to North Carolina's Outer Banks, Captain Jon has caught 300 - 700 lb giants, cod, haddock, striped bass, blue fih and many other species.

The F/V Manta Ray has a 20 knot cruising speed and fuel capacity of 300 gallons making her capable of accessing the farthest reaches of the Gulf of Maine. Not only is the Manta Ray extremely capable, she is also very comfortable. There is a dry seat for everyone. Amenities include a large dinette, full galley and an enclosed head/toilet with a fresh water shower. The Manta Ray is also equipped with state of the art electronics and safety gear needed for extended trips.
